Seared Ahi Tuna Steaks by


1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
1 Tbsp Honey
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
2 Cloves Minced Garlic
2 pinches Salt
1 pinch Pepper
1/2 pinch MSG
2 Ahi (Yellowfin) Tuna Steaks, thawed or frozen


1. Mix together sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, pepper, MSG to make the marinade.
2. Pour marinade over tuna steaks in a plastic bag.
3. Press air out of plastic bag and seal.
4. If steaks are frozen, let marinate until fully thawed.
5. If steaks are thawed, let marinate for 30 minutes - 2 hours.
6. Heat 10 inch cast iron or heavy-bottomed stainless steel pan over medium+ heat until very hot (around 475 F)
7. Sear tuna steaks on each side for 90 seconds (for rare), then 10 seconds on each side to get a consistent exterior.
8. Let rest for 3 minutes, and serve.
