Hamburger Gravy by

Ingredients

3 pounds hamburger
2 onion, diced
2 cans (4 oz. size) mushroom stems and pieces, drained (optional)
4 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
3 cups milk
2/3 cup flour


Instructions

Cook hamburger and onion (and mushrooms if using them) together in large skillet until hamburger is done. Drain. Return to skillet.

Add water, salt, and pepper. Heat to boiling.

In large shaker cup combine milk and flour (and a couple of ice cubes are helpful to reduce lumps). Shake well. Add to boiling meat mixture. Stir constantly until thickened. Remove from heat.

Serve over mashed potatoes or biscuits.
