Homemade Cornbread by

2 cups cornmeal
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil


1. Preheat oven to 400. In a small bowl, combine cornmeal and milk; let stand for 10 minutes. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix in the cornmeal mixture, eggs and oil for 5 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pan.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center of the cornbread comes out clean.
