250 gms good quality sponge cake
1 tbsp coffee powder
500 gms of dark chocolate
1 tbsp butter
1 cup of hot water
for custard:
an egg
1/2 litre full fat milk
1/2 can of condensed milk
few drops of vanilla extract

for chocolate topping :
250 gms of chocolate
a pinch of coffee powder
a dash of milk

Instructions
For making custard:
take a heavy bottom pan,add half a litre of milk into it. pour in the condensed milk and let the milk come to a boil. when it comes to a boil lower the flame and let it simmer. Meanwhile beat an egg. Take the pot away from the flame and add the beaten egg to it gradually while mixing the liquid thoroughly. Be careful not to split the custard. Once u have added the egg again keep the pot on the flame and mix it continuously until it thickens.Make sure the custard doesn't get too thick. Cook it until it reaches to a pourable consistency.Add few drops of vanilla and mix well.When the custard is ready transfer it into the bowl passing it through a sieve. It will give you a velvety smooth custard. Divide the custard into two portions and keep them in separate bowls. Into one bowl of custard add the melted chocolate and mix it well.For assembling the trifle,cut the spongecake to a desired size and dip it into the coffee solution. Take the sponge immediately out of the solution once you have dipped in.Then place the coffee drunken sponge cake into a dessert glass. This is the bottom layer of the trifle.Next layer is a vanilla custard.Add 2-3 spoonfulls of the vanilla custard on top of the sponge layer. Then add another sponge layer dipped into the coffee.Add the chocolate custard layer on top of it. Repeat this until the glass become full leaving some space for pouring chocolate sauce on top. After adding chocolate sauce layer garnish it with coffee powder.
