Prize Pound Cake by Wanda Dickson

Glaze for cake: 1 stick butter(melted). Juice and zest of a lemon. 2-3 cups powdered sugar. Mix in pan and beat with mixer. Poke holes in cake and pour over cake right out of the oven. Let it cool a little before taking it out of pan. Fo a prettier cake leave top side of cake down.


1 cup Crisco 2 sticks butter 3 cups sugar 5 eggs 3&1/2 cups plain flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1&1/2 cups milk(whole) 1 Tbs vanilla extract 1 Tbs lemon extract


Preheat oven to 350. Put rack on middle of the oven.
Butter and flour tube pan.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Cream together Crisco and butter. Mixing well.
Cream in sugar and flavorings. Beat for 2-3 mins or until light pale in color.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stopping and scraping down sides as needed.
Reduce the speed of the mixer and add the sifted dry ingredients alternately with he milk. Mix till fully combined. Mix approximately 5 mins on medium speed.
Pour into prepared tube pan and place in oven. Bake @ 350 for 1 hr and 15 mins.
