Stovetop Popcorn by
Ingredients
35g of unpopped popcorn kernels per person
vegetable oil
salt
sugar
Instructions
1. Pour enough vegetable oil in a heavy bottomed pot, and add 2-3 test kernels to gauge temperature. Cover with a splatter guard or lay paper towels over the pot, heat over medium-high heat.
2. When test kernels pop, remove from heat, and add all popcorn kernels. Shake to evenly coat in oil.
3. Grind a good amount of salt over the unpopped kernels. Let sit for 2-3 minutes.
4. Place back over heat until kernels begin sizzling again, and remove from heat for another 2-3 minute. Sprinkle a spoonful of sugar over the kernels, and shake to evenly coat.
5. Lower heat to medium-low, and replace pot over heat. Kernels should begin popping soon.
6. While kernels are popping, continue shaking pot to bring unpopped kernels to bottom of pot.
7. Once popping slows, remove from heat, and add popcorn to large bowl.
