Chicken & Dumplings by

Ingredients

1 whole chicken cut up
3-4 quarts water
salt
pepper

dumplings:
large bowl flour
1 t salt
1 egg
1 T vegatable oil
1 1/4 c milk

Instructions

boil chicken in water with salt and pepper for about an hour until tender. Remove chicken from broth and set aside-SAVE BROTH. In another large bowl fill it will flour. Make a well in the flour and to the well add t salt, egg, oil, and milk. begin mixing from the well out until a thick but kneadable dough is made. Note: there will still be flour left in bowl. Make 5 balls out of dough and roll eack ball very thin with a rolling pin. Use pizza cutter to cut dough into strips. Drop dough into boiling broth. Keep dropping dumplings into broth but slowly as to not stop the boiling. Dumpling will float at first. One dumplings sink to bottom they are almost ready. Add chicken and cut a dumpling and taste it to make sure it is not too chewy or hard.
