Grandmama's Mississippi Mud Cake by

You'll notice that Grandmama's recipes are not always precise. She tasted, poked and looked at the food to tell if it was right. Some of the measurements and the cooking times have been a good guess by me when I made the recipe and wrote it down.

Ingredients

2 sticks margarine
4 tbls. cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teas. soda
2 eggs
1 teas. vanilla
Miniature marshmellows

ICING:
1 stick margarine
4 tbls. cocoa
6 tbls. milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 teas. vanilla

Instructions

Mix margarine cocoa,and water in pan and bring to boil. Pour over sugar and flour. Add buttermilk,soda,eggs and vanilla. Mix well. pour in 9x13 pan(well greased). Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven and cover with marshmellows. Put in oven until they are brown.

For icing: Mix margarine, cocoa and milk in sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Pour over hot cake.
