German Chocolate Caramel Bars by Mary Czechowicz

Ingredients

1 Bag of Kraft Caramels 5 ozs of Evaporated Milk 1 Box of Betty Crocker German Chocolate Cake Mix 3/4 cup Softened Butter (1 stick and 1/2 stick) 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips 1 cup Nuts (optional)

Instructions

Mix German Chocolate Cake Mix and Butter with 1/3 cup Evaporated Milk & nuts until it sticks together. Take 1/2 the batter and spread in a 9 x 13 in pan. Bake for 6 minutes at 350 degrees. While that is cooking in microwave melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. My microwave it takes 3 minutes. After batter is cooked for 6 minutes take out of oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over batter. Pour melted caramels over the chocolate chips. Take remaining batter and spoon over caramel and bake 15-18 minutes. Cool before you cut into squares.
