Split Pea Soup (Bob) by cpeirson


1 (16oz) pkgs of split peas 6 qts water 3 small pork hocks 1 small picnic ham 1 lg sweet onion, finely chopped 1 T Better Than Boullion 2 clove garlic, minced fresh ground black pepper salt to taste 1 t oregano leaves 3 bay leaves 3 c finely diced carrots 2 c chopped celery


Put all ingredients in soup pot. Simmer uncovered for 2 hrs.

Remove ham and pork hocks. Trim meat off bones and cut in 1"x1/2" pieces. Return to pot. Simmer uncovered for 2-2 1/2 hrs.

Cool; skim off grease/fat on top of soup. Rewarm in small batches to serve.
