Homemade buttermilk and butter recipe Ingredients: 1 pint of heavy whipping cream Stand or hand mixer with paddle attachments Metal mixing bowl Mesh strainer Ice water in a yeti or something like a yetti with a lid and spout so the ice does not get in the butter Small Tupperware with a lid for buttermilk Container for finished butter 1/4 tsp of salt Rubber spatula to scrape bowl

Instructions

nstructions: Pour heavy whipping cream into your mixing bowl and mix on medium speed for 15-20 minutes making sure to scrape the bowl once it starts looking like whipped cream.
Once you start seeing liquid in the bottom of tie bowl strain the liquid into the mesh strainer and set it aside for other baking purposes this is buttermilk. Make sure you get all of it drained . Once all the buttermilk is drained rinse your butter with ice water 4-5 times making sure the liquid runs clear as this is extra liquid you don’t want as the butter will go rancid . You can squeeze the butter to help get the remaining liquid out . Once the water has run clear you can add salt to your butter and mix it in then put your butter in a container with a lid and use within a week . It’s delicious.
