Whole Wheat Bread by Kraus Family

Ingredients

Mix well; let rise till double: 2 c. warm water 1 T. yeast 2 T. sugar 2 t. salt 3 c. white flour Mix; cool to lukewarm and add to sponge: 1/2 c. boiling water 1 T. molasses 1/2 c. brown sugar 3 T. shortening Mix; add to sponge and mix well: 1 c. whole wheat flour 1/2 c. dry powdered milk Continue adding until stiff: 4-5 c. whole wheat flour

Instructions

Turn onto floured board, let rest 10 minutes.
Knead 10 minutes.
Put in greased bowl and let rise until double.
Punch down, divide, and let rest 12 minutes.
Shape into 2 loaves and place in pans; let rise 1 hour.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
